PKE is Going GREEN!

Oakland County is partnering with Oakland Schools to promote the Michigan Green Schools program and PKE is going to participate!

To be designated as a Michigan Green School, participants must meet 10 energy savings and environmental activities such as recycling paper, adopting an endangered species and recyling printer cartridges.

One of the activities PKE has chosen is to help preserve our rain forest.  Simply click on the Rainforest Link below.  It's dedicated to the preservation of rainforests around the world.  Your daily click funds the purchase of rainforest land by The Nature Conservacy, The Rainforest Conservation Fund, The World Parks Endowment, and Rainforest2Reef.  These organizations work to preserve rainforest land in Ecuador, Mexico, Peru, Paraguay and other locations worldwide.

PKE Team RoboTranspo
Ties for 8th Place!

In a recent robotics competition, PKE Team RoboTranspo tied for 8th place.  Facing 33 teams, most of whom were experienced 6th-8th grade teams, PKE did very well.  The team was asked to describe what "Gracious Professionalism" meant to them.  The Judge said that the team gave the best description he had ever heard in all of his years of judging.  Team RoboTranspo also won a trophy for "Best Quality Robot Design."  Way to go!!!!

Inspired by Maurice Sendak's book, "Where the Wild Things Are," PKE third graders in Mrs. Sebring's art class had a great time recreating the characters from clay.
